Time to Bloom

5 years ago, the boys and I moved into our home. It continues to be one of our biggest blessings.

My story includes a single mom that went through a bankruptcy losing everything, including her home, due to law changes in chiropractic billing in 2007. She literally clawed her way back to financial health with a few set backs along the way. When she found this home online for sale, knew it was hers, never even looking at any other homes. She didn't need to.

After we moved in, spring sprung and the trees and bushes were in full bloom but these trees still looked bare. I remember worrying (a lot) that the trees were actually dead. Worrying about the expense of removing them and worrying about losing them because I loved them so much. Luckily within a week or two, they were also a beautiful and full bounty of green.

Today, with the help of my friend Karen Griffard Putz, I realized they were just late bloomers.

Just like me.

I have always needed a little more time. I follow my heart and trust in my gut, but it has taken me a long time to feel OK in my own skin and live in a state of gratitude instead of longing, comparison and fear. I have had the help of many friends, mentors and coaches along the way and I am so thankful for them. Like most of us, I still have work to do.

Our journeys and paths in life are all so different, our timing to bloom is different, as well. Today, offer yourself some compassion and kindness. Know that when it is your time, you will be ready and you will flourish, whatever that means to you. Taking small steps in the right direction every day to become the best version of yourself will get you there with strong roots, strong branches and beautiful green leaves. Have faith in that and know sometimes we just need a little more time. ❤️🌻🌳
