Movement Mindset

Yesterday, I woke up tired.

Ever have one of those days? While I seemingly slept well, my feet hit the ground and I felt sluggish. I had a meeting in the morning and after that I honestly considered crawling back into bed.

But then I remembered I promised myself I would get outside in the sunshine and take a walk. Bed. Walk. Bed. Walk. My mind toggled back and forth for probably a half hour. Mel Robbins’ 5-4-3-2-1-GO came to mind and I decided that I would pick the walk and if I still needed to lay down afterwards, I could.

The walk was awesome. The sun was shining, there was a little breeze in the air, I threw on a Rachel Hollis podcast with Tim McGraw. They were talking about health and movement and how movement gave you more energy even though sometimes it would seem that movement would make you tired. The human body is amazing, isn’t it?

I got home energized and I still had more of the podcast to listen to, so I got down in all of those weeds that never seem to go away in my garden. I got a good sweat on and felt great! I came inside, made a healthy lunch and got back to work for the day.

I know that if I ended up picking bed my day wouldn’t have been as positive and productive. I am a big fan of a well-earned nap, but I really didn’t need one yesterday and my shift in mindset and decision to make movement a priority changed my entire day for the better!

So, when are you going to get out there today? 😊
